Biography

EST. 1966

I started painting London Bricks in 2014 in my spare time from a busy, corporate job. At the end of 2015, I had a solo show at Gallery Different in London. The sold out show featured 52 hand-painted and unique London bricks, one for each week of the year. The exhibition raised over £4,000 for CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity.

During the first U.K. lockdown in 2020, I couldn’t get hold of any London bricks, so started painting penguins on recycled cardboard boxes from my home deliveries. I’d been inspired by seeing real King Penguins on a 2018 trip to the Falkland Islands, in the South Atlantic.

Another sold out show followed at Waluso Gallery in London in October 2020, featuring my penguins on cardboard, brick, breeze block and paper.

After 33 years in the Rat Race, I left my ‘real’ job in 2021, to pursue my art career full time and 2022 saw shows in Düsseldorf, Germany and Rome, Italy. These shows also featured canvasses and print releases.

I now split my time between producing hand-finished screen prints, originals on cardboard, brick and canvas and also mural projects.

I’ve collaborated with several artists including Roy’s People, Rhys Brown, FREEMAN, Background Bob and Bell Nakai.

In September 2023, I released my 12th screen print and started exhibiting my work at George Thornton Art in Nottingham and Manchester.

In 2024, I hope to be exhibiting at various art fairs and have a solo show in the U.K.

When I’m not painting, I like to spend time with family and friends, visit art galleries, exhibitions and museums, travel off the beaten path and run, cycle and walk……

I have been an art collector for nearly 20 years and some of my favourite artists include Harland Miller, Damien Hirst, Gerhard Richter, Nick Smith, Invader, Blek Le Rat, Javier Calleja and José Parlá.

More recently, I have journeyed to South Korea and Japan and collect works by several Asian artists including Yool Kim, Jun Oson, Wakaru, Ayaïro, Takaru Amano, Hideaki Kawashima and Ly.

My collection is displayed in my home / studio / gallery, which is <tongue in cheek> called the ‘MoJA’ (Museum of Jameson’s Art).

I live in Fleet, Hampshire.
